Bailey of Bristol enjoyed a night of unprecedented success at the annual Future Publishing Awards evening, with both Bailey caravans and motorhomes claiming the top two awards in the same year for the first time.
The all-new Pegasus Grande Messina was crowned Practical Caravan Magazine ‘Tourer of the Year’ 2019 and the Advance 66-2 claimed the Practical Motorhome Magazine ‘Motorhome of the Year’ 2019 title.
In the caravan competition the Pegasus Grande Messina also won the ‘Best Tourer for Seasonal Pitches’ category and there were further commendations for three of the new Phoenix models in the ‘Best Tourer for Couples’ (Phoenix 440), ‘Best Tourer for Small Families’ (Phoenix 650) & ‘Best Tourer for Large Families’ (Phoenix 760) classes, highlighting the overall appeal of the entire Bailey 2019 caravan portfolio.
There were further triumphs in the motorhome competition as well with the Advance 66-2 also winning the ‘Best Motorhome for Couples’ category while the Advance 70-6 was voted the ‘Best Family Motorhome’
Commenting on the receipt of these coveted awards Bailey of Bristol Managing Director Nick Howard said:
“Naturally we are delighted that our new model ranges have received this award recognition from such a respected source, and it is testimony to the amount of work that has gone into the development of our 2019 caravan and motorhome portfolios. In these challenging times our focus has been on the creation of both innovative and affordable products that give people a genuine reason to upgrade. Hopefully these acknowledgements are an indication that we have gone some way to achieving this goal’.
“We would like to congratulate everybody involved, including our focus group members, for their contribution to this success,” he added.
Practical Caravan Awards
Launched in September the twin-axle Messina is one of six models in the new 8ft wide Bailey Pegasus Grande caravan range. Equally at home, being used either on extended touring holidays or as a sited vehicle for seasonal use, the new Pegasus offers up to 25% more interior living space to set new standards in comfort and practicality. This extra space has afforded the Bailey Product Development Team greater latitude to experiment with new layouts, which in the case of the Messina takes the form of its unique G-Shaped front lounge.
In summing up why the Messina was chosen as the Tourer of the Year 2019, Practical Caravan Magazine Editor Niall Hampton said:
“The Pegasus Grande Messina is well-resolved in every area from front to back. It is well-proportioned, well-specified and referencing one of its manufacturer’s USPs, well priced.”
“Our judges also felt, however, that making such a bold move in today’s challenging market for new tourers should be not only applauded, but recognized, too”, he added.
Practical Motorhome Awards
Introduced earlier this year the Bailey Advance motorhome range has quickly established itself as a popular choice for people looking to purchase their first new motorhome. A genuine go anywhere and do anything vehicle, the Advance provides the unique combination of the Peugeot Boxer cab, AL-KO AMC chassis and Bailey Alu-Tech body shell meaning they are capable of taking on even the toughest of challenges. The two-berth end-washroom Advance 66-2 is the ‘baby of the bunch’ but in spite of its diminutive size still packs a punch in terms of both comfort and practicality.
Commenting on the success of the Bailey Advance 66-2 Practical Motorhome Editor Sarah Wakely said:
“This motorhome really is a little cracker. It manages to pack a great deal of kit into its relatively compact dimensions. The price tag is attractive, and its huge payload means that a couple can take plenty of gear with them”.
“We are delighted to name the Bailey Advance 66-2 as our Motorhome of the Year 2019”, she added.
