Explore unveils new Walking and Trekking Self-Guided collection

Explore, the adventure travel specialists, has unveiled their new Self-Guided programme in Europe. The new tours comprise of 10 walking and trekking adventures, which offer customers the flexibility and freedom to decide on when they travel and enjoy their chosen destination at their own pace. What’s more, all of Explore’s self-guided tours include luggage transfers, providing customers with more time to enjoy and concentrate on their walking.

As one of the new Self-Guided tours for 2015/16 Tenerife and La Gomera is an eight day easy-to-moderate graded walking tour on these two Canary Islands. Customers will hike on El Teide, Tenerife’s iconic volcano; explore La Gomera’s verdant Garajonay National Park and soak up the atmosphere in the harbour town of San Sebastian. Customers can also visit the Botanical Gardens at Juego de Bolas and admire the impressive rock formations. Departures for this tour are available year round and costs from €877 per person based on two people sharing. This price includes seven nights’ hotel accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis; three other meals and the services of a luggage transfer.

Alternatively, the eight day Coastal Trails of Portugal provides customers with a moderate graded walking tour in Portugal. Customers will enjoy the unspoilt coastal views; discover Cabo Sao Vicente, the most south-western point of continental Europe and visit the historic town of Vila do Bispo. There will be time for customers to take in the sights of the pretty white-washed villages in the Western Algarve. Departures for this tour are available from 1st April 2015 – 15th October 2015 and costs from €462 per person based on two people sharing. This price includes seven nights’ hotel accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis and the services of a luggage transfer.

In France, the eight day Dordogne Walks and Gastronomy offers an easy-to-moderate graded walking tour, combining fine cuisine with historic sights. Customers will enjoy panoramic views across the Dordogne River; walk through the French countryside to the fortified settlement of Molieres and hike to the 12th Century Cistercian Abbey in Cadouin. Customers will have time to explore the back lanes of Monpazier while sampling local delicacies and wine. Departures are available from 1st April 2015 to 22nd October 2015 and cost from €1,058 per person based on two people sharing. This price includes seven nights’ hotel accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis; six other meals and the services of a luggage transfer.

For more of a challenge, Walking in Crete is an eight day, moderate graded walking tour in Crete. Customers will walk along the impressive coastal trails; hike the dramatic Samaria Gorge and relax on the idyllic beaches of this beautiful region. Customers will spend time in Omalos, surrounded by the White Mountains and enjoy the car-free coastal village of Loutro. Departures are available from the 1st April 2015 to the 22nd June 2015 and 1st September to the 30th October 2015. Tours cost from €502 per person and this price includes seven nights’ hotel accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis and the services of a luggage transfer.

In Italy, Dolomites Hiking offers an eight day moderate-to-challenging graded walking tour which costs from €958 per person*. Customers will enjoy untouched mountain scenery; sample the culinary delights from the region including cheese, polenta and wines and climb to the peak of Muntejela de Senes. Alternatively, Amalfi Coast Trails provides an easy-to-moderate graded walking tour in Italy which costs from €670 per person**. Customers can hike cliff tops and coves on the Sorrento peninsula; escape to the stunning island of Capri and explore the backstreets of Amalfi while admiring the beautiful scenery of the Bay of Naples.
