*RTÉ Radio 1 Celebrates Third Year of Westport Festival & promises a feast of music, comedy and entertainment

The Westport Festival of Music & Food which takes place on Saturday, 28th & Sunday, 29th June is a two day family friendly feast of entertainment and food, set amidst the beautiful 400-acre grounds of Westport House in Co Mayo.
RTÉ Radio 1 is proud to be the radio partner for the very first time and will be bringing festival goers and listeners “Radio 1 Off Air” featuring a host of well known names from the world of comedy, arts, current affairs, Irish and international music as well as radio workshops and interviews over the weekend.

The RTÉ Radio 1 “Off Air” Marquee will be a hive of activity throughout the two day festival with comment and humour from Joe Duffy, cutting edge comedy with satirist Oliver Callan, workshops with RTÉ Radio 1’s Shay Byrne, music and interviews with Westport Festival headlining artists, Jam Session with the Hotspot Ukes and the “Moonlight Sessions” with the very talented music maestro Jack Lukeman.

Radio 1’s John Creedon will broadcast live from Westport House on Friday evening, 27 June and will interview Westport Festival headliner David Gray.

John will also be live in the marquee on Saturday, 28 June with the Kilfenora Ceili Band for an hour of live trad music and giveaways while Kathryn Thomas will present a very special live Music Passport on Sunday afternoon.

The RTÉ Radio 1 marquee promises to create a diverse festival feel with dynamic acts from the realms of world music through to trad and from comedy to entertaining talk, including Sunday with Miriam O’ Callaghan live from Westport House at 10am.

We look forward to announcing many more exciting names as the date draws closer.
