ANOTHER GREAT WESTPORT FESTIVAL OF MUSIC & FOOD 2013
The second annual ‘Westport Festival of Music and Food’ was the place to be in the West this weekend…
12,000 music fans attended the two-day, multi-stage, family-friendly festival in Westport House, in one of Ireland’s most beautiful historic homes and parkland estates.
Festival goers enjoyed a fantastic fun filled weekend of entertainment with music from over 50 international and Irish artists including Christy Moore, Elvis Costello & The Imposters, The Waterboys, Imelda May, The Grand Parade (Mundy, Gavin Glass, Lisa Hannigan, Jerry Fish, Wallis Bird & Declan O’Rourke), Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club, The Stunning, ABC, Delorentos, Jack Lukeman and Julie Feeney ; comedy from Reginald D Hunter, Phil Jupitus (who jetted in from Glastonbury), Barry Murphy and Colin Murphy with mouth-watering culinary demonstrations by top chefs Derry Clarke (L’Ecrivain), Dylan McGrath (Fade Street Social, Richard Corrigan (Corrigans London), Oliver Dunne (Bon Appetit) Kevin Dundon (Dunbrody House), Seamus Commons (Knockranny House – Westport) and Frankie Mallon (An Port Mor – Westport) hosted by Norah Casey and Today FM’s Tony Fenton.
Julie Feeney tweeted following the festival saying “Big highlight of my year was today in a packed tent at @westportfest crowd all singing and clapping my songs. Thanks for being so fabulous!”
Mundy who played the Westport Festival with The Grand Parade (Saturday) and The Clew Bay Pipe Band on Sunday said….. It’s my second time here and the festival is only two years old. I played Westport Festival last year and am delighted to be back again…. I feel that I should be here every year now. It’s brilliant festival.. there is a great vibe – everyone’s happy! Last night with the Grand Parade band was really special.
