BOOK REVIEW I Fire To Fork by Harry Fisher

I Published by Exploring Eden Media in association with Imray
Is a best-selling book about campfire cooking. Harry Fisher has built a solid reputation as a great campfire cook and has a large YouTube following all about his cooking (search Fire To Fork). The book was Australia’s best-selling outdoor cookbook in 2021, and has continued to be massively popular in Australia this year, selling over 30,000 copies so far.
Harry credits his talent to his Mom, who he said “thought me everything I know about food”. His is the ultimate multi-tasker – writer, lumberjack, fire builder, camp fire cook, bush mechanic, enthusiastic fisherman and camera man, aided by his loyal canine Fred!
Throughout the near 200 page hardback, six main chapters cover practically everything needed to know to explore the great outdoors and fulfil the big hunger that open air and wild camping discoveries bring with them. An extensive menu of a full four course meal is detailed in great colour, lending itself to creating an appetite and desire to start preparing straight away, even outside your own back door!
From the introduction (and the Why?), the six sections begin with Tips, Sides, Quick Meals, Meat, Chicken, Seafood, Desserts & Drinks. All explained in a simple to prepare and practical way. Everything is cooked by the open fire, as nature intended. He advises to buy local where possible and that the food items should carry well. One important note was to conserve water, even when doing the washing-up!
At the end, a complete A-Z Index is listed, a good reminder of what was featured, one could almost smell it! Tempting indeed! Campers, 4WDers and overlanders will love this book, benefiting from the nourishment within. JS
*For every book sold, the publishers will plant a tree as they are really conscious of the need for these books to do more good than harm.
