Blackthorn Farm is officially the ‘Best Bed and Breakfast’ and ‘Best Caravan and Camping Site’ on Anglesey, after having scooped both of the top awards at the Anglesey Tourism Awards 2013.

The family-run business won gold in the ‘Best Bed and Breakfast/Guesthouse of the Year’ and ‘Best Caravan and Camping Site of the Year’ categories at a prestigious ceremony on the island on Friday 25 January. The awards were presented by the actress who plays Alwena Parry in the S4C series ‘Rownd a Rownd’.

Organised by the Anglesey Tourism Association (ATA), the Anglesey Tourism Awards is open to all Anglesey tourism businesses and is designed to reward achievement, celebrate success, exemplify good practice and promote all that is best in tourism in the region.

Blackthorn Farm is an award-winning family-run Bed and Breakfast, camping and touring site set in 18-acres of outstanding natural beauty with panoramic coastal views of Anglesey, the Snowdonia mountain range and the Irish Sea. The B&B has eight bedrooms and a self-catering apartment, while the campsite has 36 caravan pitches and six tent pitches.

Blackthorn Farm’s owner Richard Tuke says: “Everyone at Blackthorn Farm is delighted and overwhelmed that we have won the award in both categories. It is an absolutely fantastic achievement and is testament to the sheer hard work and dedication of the whole team throughout the year. I would like to thank and pay tribute to everyone who has played a part in making Blackthorn Farm such a success.”

Over the last year, Blackthorn Farm has made a significant investment in the planning and construction of a brand new additional shower block, which was built and open for the start of the 2012 season.

The business also opened its new luxury ground floor guest bedroom which is fully accessible for wheelchair users. The room is part of an on-going programme of investment and improvement at Blackthorn Farm.

In 2010, Blackthorn Farm won a silver Anglesey Tourism Award for ‘Best Country House’ and in 2011 the B&B was a finalist in the Bed and Breakfast category. Blackthorn Farm won the ‘Best Caravan and Camping Site’ award in 2009, 2011 and 2012.
