Agreement between NCC & Clarion Events
The NCC (National Caravan Council) announced today that it has entered into a definitive agreement with Clarion Events to secure the tenancy of the NEC exhibition halls, whereby the NCC will run its own industry show in October. This event will follow on from the success of Clarion’s “International Caravan & Motorhome Show”.
Following the NCC’s announcement of the industry’s new show next October at Excel in London, Clarion Events Ltd and the NCC convened to consider the best way forward for the two exhibition organisers and for exhibitors and potential show attendees.
The demographic of the caravan and motorhome owners – and potential owners – is biased to the Midlands and Northern geographical areas. Accordingly, for the wellbeing of the industry, Clarion has offered their NEC tenancy to the NCC, thereby allowing the industry the opportunity to remain at its current venue, albeit that the show will now be run by a new organiser.
This means there will be only one caravan and motorhome show in the October calendar and this show will be run by NCC Events Ltd at NEC Birmingham 11-16 October 2011.
John Lally, NCC Director General said: “Clarion Events has earned a stellar reputation as one of the leading independent exhibition organisers. It launched the International Caravan & Motorhome Show in 2006 and it has grown to be the biggest caravan show in the UK.
“I would like to take this opportunity, on behalf of the caravan and motorhome industry, to thank Simon Kimble, Managing Director, Clarion Events Ltd, for his long standing continued support through the highly successful October shows. We look forward to building on the success of the Clarion show in the future.”
Simon Kimble, Managing Director, Clarion Events Ltd, responded: “Clarion worked very hard over the last four years to consistently deliver a high quality caravan and motorhome show at the NEC in October and we enjoyed good visitor figures again this year, with more than 72,000 people through the doors during the six-day show. I very much hope that the NCC will capitalise on our success at their own show in 2011.”
“We have been working very hard to strengthen the NCC, and today, we’ve taken another big step in that direction,” Rod Tucker, NCC Chairman explained. “This represents a compelling opportunity for the NCC’s members, its partners and not least our customers, who can all benefit from more cost effective shows in the future.”
The NCC will be supporting the Manchester Central Caravan and Motorhome Show on 20-23rd January run by Clarion Events and we look forward to welcoming NCC members to our stand.
