With the New Meaco Mini-D Rechargeable Dehumidifier Unit

It’s getting to that time of year when our travels for the summer are over, caravans and motor homes are being put to bed all over the country.  With little or no ventilation through the winter, relative humidity is likely to cause condensation and as a result, damp – a caravan owner’s worst nightmare!  Damp can spread through a caravan very quickly, leading to large and costly repairs as it makes its way into the furnishings, fabrics, walls, floors and ceilings.

Musty smells and mould are often found in caravans and motor homes during the winter as a result of damp setting in. Old rubber seals, un-drained boilers and dated mastic can wreak havoc on the interior of your home from home. Mould thrives and grows on damp patches in our caravans, the damp occurs as a result of excess moisture in the air.  This excess moisture comes from our daily activities living in a caravan, for example showering, cooking, drying washing and breathing (!) creating an atmosphere in which mould thrives.  The only way to remove the moisture and prevent mould appearing on cold spots such as outside walls and the back of cupboards is to remove the extra moisture from the air.

One solution is to call in the experts for a costly rebuild; a far cheaper solution is to prevent the damp from occurring in the first place using a Meaco Mini-D rechargeable dehumidifier.! This small cassette is full of silica gel that loves to absorb moisture! Silica gels natural process is to absorb as much water from its surroundings as possible – which is why manufacturers often add a sachet into packaging for new shoes and handbags! Pop it into the area of your caravan that is most susceptible to damp and it will capture the moisture before it has a chance to ruin your interior!

At £17.99 it is cheaper than a refitting a panel or furnishings and will pay for itself over and over in reduced repair costs, it will also ensure that your caravan is free from damp smells ready to welcome you in the Spring.

The Mini-D is not just useful for keeping your caravan free from damp; it has thousands of other uses too, from keeping clothes fresh and clean in wardrobes to the cupboards in your kitchen or bathroom. It will also ensure a damp free environment in cars, boats and in loft spaces that store all those old photo albums and family treasures.

The latest addition to the Meaco product range comes with both a two pin and three pin plug for use in the UK and European destinations and features a central heating pad, ensuring it is safe and fast to recharge.

The unit has a handy visible colour indicator to ensure you can keep check on the status of the silica gel inside and know when it is time to recharge, ready to use again. It is so easy to use; simply make sure the unit is charged ready for action and then pop into an area that suffers from damp or a musty smell. Then when the unit is full the silica gel window will change from orange to green – you will then know it is time to put the unit on charge, ready to use again.

Chris Michael, MD for Meaco UK commented: “This unit provides the ideal solution for those small cupboards and spaces, which can easily get affected by damp and mould issues. It is so easy to use and highly effective at keeping these issues at bay.

“We have also worked with our design team to make sure that the silica gel is used in the safest, cleanest format – using orange and green colouring rather than the pink and blue, which has proved to be carcinogenic.  Our unit is 100% safe and using these colours removes any carcinogenic concerns.”

Leading independent provider and manufacturer of air treatment solutions, Meaco U.K. Limited, has just launched the latest product within its portfolio of market-leading dehumidifiers and air purifiers

The products manufactured by Meaco have also been recognised in independent tests with Meaco branded dehumidifiers winning Best on Test awards ahead of many of the more established brands.
