For 50 years now CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF has provided reliable information on innovations and trends and has served as a meeting point for the international caravanning industry. At this year’s CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF from 27 August to 4 September 2011 the event will be celebrating its 50th anniversary.
Complete overview of the sector
In Halls 9 to 17 of the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre CARAVAN SALON presents the world’s biggest line-up of mobile holiday-making ranges. Demand from exhibiting companies is so high that the halls are completely booked up. There will be over 550 exhibitors at this year’s CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF showcasing motor homes and caravans from 120 international brands, basic vehicles, accessories, detachable parts, tents, park trailers and travel destinations. Halls 9 to 12 as well as 14, 16 and 17 are reserved for vehicles. In Hall 13 visitors can find the Technology for Order segment. Hall 15 will present the ranges for the tourism and accessories segments together for the first time this year.
The spectrum of vehicles on display at CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF ranges from small caravans and compact motor homes for two to family vehicles also including luxury mobile homes. Small caravans with basic furnishing can be found for as little as EUR 5,000 while the sky is the limit for prices for one-off luxury mobile homes. CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF has traditionally been the date for rolling out innovations in the caravanning sector. This year visitors can once again look forward to a great many premieres. A number of exhibitors have also announced special makes and activities to mark the occasion.
Comfort and eco-friendly are the trends
Enjoying particular and continued popularity are partially integrated motor homes and van campers, i.e. compact vehicles weighing less than 3.5 t. Moreover, convenience is a trend: in many new vehicles such amenities as mattresses and seats with massage functions, loudspeakers like in your living room back home and satellite installations for watching TV in HD quality are considered standard.
The caravanning industry also continues its efforts to become even more eco-friendly. Modern components reduce the energy consumption of recreational vehicles and save emissions – even a hybrid drive for motor homes is currently under development. This is why CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF 2011 will also see the Green Caravanning presentation debuted last year now continue. Equipped with the latest environment-technology components the Green Motor Home will demonstrate how caravanning can become even more eco-friendly.
Versatile programme to mark the anniversary
The 50th anniversary, of course, plays a prominent role in the programme of CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF 2011. Decorations at the entrances already set the scene for the jubilee and at the North entrance vintage vehicles take visitors back into the early days of the CARAVAN SALON. This journey through time is enhanced even further by a multi-media show at the Caravaning-Show-Center and the CIVD stand. And there will also be prizes to be won here: befitting the occasion the first prize is a high-quality caravan plus car. Add to this: on the two Saturdays (27 August and 3 September) visitors will be invited from 6.00 pm to 8.00 pm to celebrate the “birthday” of their No.1 trade fair with a 60s-style social event on the outdoor space where they will be able to enjoy live music and catering at 60s prices.
At the Caravaning-Show-Center new dream trips will be presented every day. This year Konstantin Abert, Jeanette Emerich and Uwe Hamm will carry visitors away to China, the Andes and Northern Europe – i.e. Scotland, Iceland, Norway and Karelia. For kids the AWO charity will have a wide range of toys and games ready at its stand at CARAVAN SALON 2011 and children will be able to climb in the outdoor area or pass their CARAVAN SALON driver’s test with Jumicars.
TourNatur held concurrently in halls 1 and 2
Held in parallel with CARAVAN SALON on the second weekend (2 to 4 September) will again be the hiking and trekking trade fair TourNatur. In Hall 1 more than 5,000 hiking destinations will be presented while Hall 2 will combine the latest hiking and trekking gear with expert advice. TourNatur also boasts numerous activities to join in such as a mobile high rope course.
