Claire Nicolson – Singin’ in a Chevy Coachmen!
A top London singer-songwriter while on the search for local venue owners willing to let her literally ‘sing for her supper’ stopped off in Claremorris, the hometown of publishers Caravan Cruise Ireland.
Claire Nicolson, about to release her second solo album after stints playing in The Waterboys, Mike Oldfield and Spice Girl Mel C‘s bands, is touring Ireland and Northern Ireland with assorted musicians until May 10 and is offering to stage a full evening’s entertainment for nothing more than a bellyful of food.
While in County Mayo, Claire meet up with Jarlath Sweeney, Managing Editor for an interview and recorded an hour’s session on his Travel Torque programme on Claremorris Community Radio – 94.6fm
“Ireland’s famous all over the world for its great hospitality and wonderful food and drink,” says Claire, “so I’m enjoying some delicious nosh, meeting nice people and road testing tracks from my new album ’52 Card Pick Up’ in the process.”
As the 1987 Chevy Coachmen camper van Claire has taken to the road (with her travelling companion George, pictured) in is fitted with its own PA system, so that Claire can pitch up anywhere and put on a show. “I’m hoping the weather will continue be good enough for a few outdoor gigs and even the odd beach party or two,” she says.
