Elddis wins ‘Caravan of the Year’ in the Netherlands

Elddis is delighted to announce that we have been awarded the title ‘Caravan of the Year’ in the Netherlands for our Avante range – the first time the award has ever been given to a UK manufacturer.

The award was announced today at the Utrecht ‘Kampeer en Caravan Jaarbeurs’ – the annual Caravan, Motorhome and Camping extravaganza in the Netherlands, where Elddis’s Dutch distributors Weel Caravans attend each year with a range of the latest Elddis models.

The award is a huge accolade for Elddis and recognizes not only the technical advances made by Elddis, but the brand’s growing popularity in Europe.

The award was judged by: Aad van der Poel, editor of KCK (Kampeer en Caravan Kampioen / Camping and Caravan Champion ) Magazine – part of the ANWB Media Group; Frits Ronner, editor-in-Chief of De Caravan, the Nederlanse Caravan Club Magazine; and Kiek Schenk, Specialist Editor of the Algemeen Dagblad newspaper.

Caravan entries are subject to stringent judging criteria, including innovation, appearance, practicality, layout, value for money and quality of finish.

The jury reported: “This season Elddis has launched a different construction method, replacing the hundreds of screws that previously held the various elements of a caravan together with a new structural bonding system.

“Not only did this produce interesting savings in terms of weight, after having submitted its products to extensive tests, Elddis is convinced that the new method makes the body more robust and watertight.

“To show they mean it, they provide a warranty for SoLiD Construction which spans no less than ten years. The acronym ‘SoLiD’, by which Elddis refers to its bonding project, stands for Strong, Light and Dry.

“Although the change-over to structural bonding applies to Elddis’s entire product range, the jury finds the Avante to be a prime example given its attractive price/performance ratio.

“The Avante’s already impressive standard kit list will now include new features such as the electricity and gas-operated under floor space heater from Whale, as well as a flat-screen 7-way TV.

Rob Quine, Managing Director at Elddis says: “The team at Elddis and all those involved in the development and launch of SoLiD Construction are thrilled to have won ‘Tourer of the Year’ in the Netherlands.

“Having also just scooped the title of ‘Tourer of the Year’ for the all-new Elddis Affinity from Practical Caravan and only yesterday being awarded ‘Best Family Caravan’ for the Crusader range and ‘Best Small Caravan’ for the Xplore range in the 2012 Caravan Talk Awards, all of our ranges have been recognized for their design, innovation and Customer appeal.”
