Award judges at Practical Motorhome magazine have praised the new Tribute T620 motorhome, built by Auto-Trail, which is based on the latest Ford Transit motorhome chassis. The vehicle has been judged both the best budget-buy motorhome and the overall motorhome of the year for 2010.

Furthermore the Tribute’s sister T720 Ford-based model was runner-up as best family motorhome.

-Tribute_T-620_frontThe new models are the result of 75 years’ experience distilled into one product thanks to 45 years of development for the Ford Transit and 30 years of making motorhomes by Humberside-based Auto-Trail.

Skilful construction techniques, using the same high-end interiors as the rest of the Auto-Trail range, mean the Tribute T620 has a payload of 730kg, enabling families to take all the luggage they want when they travel.

“What’s not to like about the new Transit Tribute?” asked the judges. “It’s great to see a British company taking the lead and making motor-caravanning more readily available to the masses in these difficult financial times.”

David Thomas, joint managing director of Auto-Trail, said: “The key to success is using proven, reliable components, with all appliances tested and run on the production line to ensure quality.

“The Transit is celebrating 45 years of success this year and Auto-Trail Group is not too far behind,” added David. “It shows that the combination of experience and innovation pay dividends for us and our customers. We have the right products at the right time for the current challenging market conditions.”

“The Ford Transit has established itself as one of the top choices for the European motorhome industry. All of the traditional virtues and strengths of the Transit range, including the combination of latest technology and high levels of durability at an affordable price, are the starting point for our tailored solutions that support the different construction philosophies of the motorhome builders,” Steve Adams, vehicle line director for commercial vehicles at Ford of Europe, explained.  “The new Transit Motorhome Chassis joins the broad variety of existing Ford chassis cabs with front-, rear- and all-wheel-drive, and single and double rear wheel configurations. It has been eagerly awaited by some of our manufacturer partners who want to design new stylish and contemporary motorhomes using the proven foundation of the Ford Transit.”
