Leading New Zealand rental company choose Swift

for luxury touring packages “down under”

Leading New Zealand motorhome hire company, Iconic Motorhomes, who have centres in both Christchurch and Auckland, have chosen Swift Group motorhomes to build an exclusive fleet of Swift coachbuilt hire vehicles aimed at the luxury end of the market.

Iconic, who started life under the banner of South Island Travel, have been importing and selling Swift Group products since 2008. With the number of UK residents visiting New Zealand on the increase, they also spotted a trend of people who have experienced using a motorhome representing a growing slice of visitors.

With Swift the clear market leader in the UK, many holiday makers started asking for the brand by name and this has led to the company running a fleet made up exclusively of Swift Kon-Tiki, Voyager and Bolero models, all of which are under two years old.

Type Approval regulations in New Zealand mean that the engineers at Iconic have to make modification to the gas and electric systems and some of the electrical appliances before the Swift models hit the road. “Home produced products tend to be fairly basic. We were looking for a product that would raise the standard of motorhomes available to hire in New Zealand. Our main priorities were a permanent bed at low level, excellent kitchen and shower facilities, good insulation properties, heating and of course good fuel economy and CO2 emissions,” Sina Zimmermann, Assistant Manager at Iconic explained.

Recent arrivals in New Zealand included a new Bolero 684FB and the first couple to use the new model were Bill and Margaret from Doncaster in England. The couple first visited New Zealand on board the QE 2 on her maiden voyage.

They enjoyed the country so much they decided to return to do a 6 week trip round both North and South Islands in a motorhome. To check out the luxury promised by Iconic, they visited the Swift factory in the UK before booking their trip.

At the moment, the couple are two weeks into their trip of a life time. Watch this space for a full report and pictures when they return.
