Messe Düsseldorf GmbH, Messe Düsseldorf Shanghai (MDS) and the China National Travel Service Group Corporation (CTS) signed a cooperation agreement in Hong Kong on 3 December 2012. The Düsseldorf trade fair organiser is thus the first and only German company of its kind to work together with a Chinese partner in the tourism industry.
CTS has vast resources in tourism, including holiday complexes, travel agencies and its own magazines. It is also one of the biggest campsite operators in China. By 2015 it will have set up over 50 camping and caravan sites in China. Together with its subsidiary SINOTRANS, CTS has excellent expertise and contacts in goods import and export to and from China.
“The new joint venture will make it much easier for our customers to access the Chinese market,” says Werner M. Dornscheidt, President & Chief Executive Officer of Messe Düsseldorf GmbH. At the same time, through this joint venture and the CTS network, it should also be possible to acquire visitors to events in both China and Düsseldorf. “It is a consistent part of our strategy to develop international markets with high-level local partners for our exhibitors and visitors and thus also to create positive effects in the opposite direction, for our own events.”
Dornscheidt continues: “CTS is one of the biggest players in the Chinese tour-ism industry and therefore a most valued partner for our Caravanning segment”. He adds that new formats will be developed for the Chinese events sector. The first jointly conducted event will be ALL IN CARAVANNING CHINA 2013.
