Continuity, experience, knowledge and reputation key to building on success of Boat & Caravan Show and The Outdoor Leisure Show

Ocean Media Group’s flagship event – The Boat & Caravan Show, together with the Outdoor Leisure Show – has announced the appointment of a top team to build on the success of the UK’s largest consumer outdoor leisure show.

About to enter its 51st year, the 2011 Boat & Caravan Show attracted 86,988 visitors and the inaugural Outdoor Leisure Show, which ran alongside, entertained over 35,420 visitors.

The 2012 Boat and Caravan Show will take place at The NEC from 21 – 26 February and The Outdoor Leisure Show from 24 – 26 February.

The team, headed by Event Director Andy Gibb, include a team of industry professionals with considerable experience in sales, event management, operations, marketing and PR and exhibition production.

Andy will be supported by the successful sales team of last year’s shows –  Rosie O’Neill and Kylie Hopkins on the Boat & Caravan Show and David Gallagher on The Outdoor Leisure Show.

The show’s success has been recognised recently through one of the exhibition’s industry’s most prestigious awards. Andy Gibb was voted Best Event Director of the Year and Rosie O’Neill, Best Salesperson of the Year. Kylie Hopkins was also nominated for Best Rising Star.

Pat Turner of Woodcock Events is appointed as Operations Director for the shows. Pat has worked on over 150 exhibitions across the UK over the past twenty years, working closely with all the country’s leading venues, contractors and suppliers.  He knows the Boat & Caravan Show well having headed operations in 2011 and in many previous years.

Simon Greenbury, from CIG Partnership, part of the Communications International Group, is taking on the role of Marketing and PR Director.  Simon brings over 25 years of experience to the team, having worked on PR for the Boat & Caravan Show for the past three years and the launch of The Outdoor Leisure Show. With an extensive exhibition background he has previously worked on Reed Travel Exhibitions’ flagship show World Travel Market for eight years and their meetings shows in Barcelona (EIBTM), Abu Dhabi (GIBTM and Beijing (CIBTM).

Dave Cooper from exhibition production company Standby will be overseeing the show’s feature areas which have proved so popular with visitors in recent years.  Dave has been responsible for feature areas at many of the UK’s most successful exhibitions including the London Boat Show, Ideal Home Show and National Wedding Shows as well as the Boat & Caravan Show and The Outdoor Leisure Show.

Commenting on the team, Andy Gibb commented: “I am absolutely delighted that such an experienced, knowledgeable, respected and consistent team has joined to help grow and develop one of the UK’s most successful consumer show over the next two years (2012 and 2013).  Their combined talent and understanding of all aspects of consumer exhibitions will prove invaluable.

“It is an exciting time for the Boat & Caravan Show and The Outdoor Leisure Show. In addition to the new team,  our three year partnership with the Camping & Caravanning Club, announced at the 2011 Show, is set to enhance our positioning of attracting individuals and families new to the world of the Great British outdoors, to camping, caravanning, boating, motorhoming, rambling, cycling, canoeing, kayaking and climbing.”
