Warning of the Dangers of Charging Batteries at Too High a Voltage
CTEK, a leading global brand in the care and maintenance of vehicle
batteries, is today warning motorists of the dangers of overcharging their
batteries by delivering too much voltage.
Overcharging a battery can cause overheating and have other detrimental
effects on a car battery – even leading to Battery Failure.
One way to ensure that a battery is never overcharged and also keep it
maintained in optimum condition is to invest in a smart battery charger
which can recognise when a battery has reached optimum charge levels and
stop charging to avoid any problems. Smart chargers will then remain in
contact with the battery, monitoring charge levels and topping them up when
necessary.
Borje Maleus, CEO, CTEK, said: “Overcharging a battery can have very
serious, detrimental effects on the state of a battery which can eventually
lead to battery failure and mean drivers will need to fork out for an
expensive replacement. Investing in a smart battery charger will avoid the
problems associated with overcharging and keep Car Batteries in optimum
condition.”
By properly caring for and maintaining a battery motorists can ensure that
their vehicles start first time and extend their batteries lives
dramatically. CTEK smart chargers are particularly useful for cars that are
used infrequently or left standing for long periods of time (i.e. over the
winter).
