Whale Continues to Grow!

Whale® has secured the largest contract in the company’s history supplying UK based caravan and motorhome manufacturer, Elddis.

Despite the difficult economic climate, Whale® has continued to invest in innovative product designs and state of the art

rapid prototyping and manufacturing techniques. The latest success is marked by securing their largest single contract in

the company’s history within the UK caravan and motorhome market.

Whale has been a well-known brand name for water systems in the caravan and motorhome industry for decades from

its manufacturing facility in Bangor, Northern Ireland. More recently however, Whale® has also led innovation in space

and water heating management, including an award winning space heating system designed to be fitted underneath

vehicles, thereby increasing the versatility and living space inside.

Elddis were one of the first manufacturers to adopt Whale’s latest range of innovative underfloor

mounted Space Heaters and Rapid Heat Water Heaters. These advanced heating systems help to

address key concerns of recreational vehicle manufacturers and end users, freeing up valuable

storage space and reduce the overall weight of the vehicle.

Elddis, having tried and tested the Whale® heating range on their Xplore range of caravans in 2010/2011, have now

extended the Whale heating systems to cover over 50% of their fleet of vehicles, including the Xplore, Autoquest and

Avante ranges.

This win is a successful beginning to what looks like another record year in 2012 for Whale®. In the face of economic

adversity, Whale’s market share of the UK recreational vehicle market has grown by over 16% in the last year. This can

largely be attributed to the successful launch of a comprehensive range of Water and Space Heaters.

Patrick Hurst, Managing Director added:

“This new contract is a tremendous success story for UK manufacturing and reflects the efforts of the

whole team at Whale®. Over the past 3 years, the company has grown dramatically and we are on

track by the end of 2012 to have a business double the size to that of 2009. With the new high value

products such as Water and Space Heaters complementing our traditional pumps and water system

products, Whale is capitalizing on its ability to grow market share. This contract with Elddis is hugely

significant for the company, it’s the spring board to take further business from our competitors in

2013, and provides a base in which to expand into the European RV market. This new order will mean further jobs and

an increase in work for our suppliers, many of whom are located in the UK”.

Sarah Baird, Commercial Manager, also commented:

“We are delighted to be chosen as a key supplier to one of the UK’s best-known caravan and motorhome

brands. This hugely significant contract reflects the strong partnership that has been forged between

Elddis and Whale®, and our shared approach in developing progressive, innovative, market leading

products.”
