Bailey of Bristol is supporting TV wildlife presenter Simon King’s new ‘Wildlife Whisperer’ venture with the long term loan of a specially modified Orion 440-4 caravan – affectionately known as the “Green Goddess”.
wildlifewhisperer.tv is the place to go if you have an interest in the natural world. There you will find a wealth of information and news about the wild world; how to watch, photograph, film and generally get the most out of your contact with wild creatures and where to go to find them.
The project is sponsored by The Caravan Club which has long been committed to enhancing the natural environment through the implementation of a series of bio-diversity initiatives across its extensive network of parks.
Simon himself is no stranger to caravanning, having used them regularly for filming and travelling both around the UK and overseas. He will keep the Bailey Orion 440-4 for the next twelve months using it as a mobile base from which to publish regular updates throughout the UK to the wildlife whisperer web site.
Orion is perfectly suited to this particular role being as it a vehicle designed to allow you to get the most from the great outdoors. Easy to drive, easy to park and easy to store it offers the flexibility of use from which people can enjoy their chosen leisure activity. It possesses a light weight compact body shell and a unique exterior profile that has been developed in conjunction with the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bath to be more aero-dynamic thus enhancing towing stability and improving the fuel economy of the tow car. As a consequence there will be reduction in the environmental impact of the journey in terms of emissions and a lowering of the costs of motoring through more economic fuel consumption.
In order that the caravan could better blend in with its natural surroundings Simon requested a custom exterior colour scheme. Normally this would involve a time consuming and expensive paint re-spray however Bailey graphics supplier, Creative Graphics International, came up with a more cost-effective solution for this project supplied the distinctive dark green vinyl wrap for the caravan.
The compact exterior disguises spacious interiors which include everything you will need for anything from a weekend break to an extended holiday, while clever use of space means it can accommodate from two to five people in complete comfort. As well as being supplied with all the facilities you would expect in a modern caravan, including fully equipped kitchens and washrooms, Orion includes a number of luxuries, such as a micro wave oven and branded Radio/CD/MP3 player with stereo speakers, which are only normally found in more expensive models.

“The UK is blessed with a myriad of magnificent wild places spread across the nation. And there is no better way to explore the natural world than from the comfort of a caravan”.
“I am really excited about getting out and about in my new green home on wheels” he added.
When Simon is filming wildlife he is usually pretty hard to spot, but the “Green Goddess” will be rather less anonymous. Keep a look out for it on the road!
