The annual Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf is considered to be the biggest trade fair of its kind in the world and the 2018 show met every expectation. With up to 250,000 visitors from across 69 countries attending, the caravanning and motor home sector is going from strength to strength.
Up until the midpoint, Wednesday 29 August, the event registered around 145,000 visitors. This figure is up 12% from the same point in 2017. These numbers were also reflected in the sales. According to a survey carried out by the Caravaning Industrie Verbandes e.V. – CIVD (Caravanning Industry Association), over 50% of the caravan manufacturers stated that they have sold more vehicles over the same period than the trade show’s previous year. The figures also show that demand is growing year on year in all markets, with expansion of about 50% over four years. Over the first seven months of this year 54,071 new Recreational Vehicles (RVs) were registered, a strong 11.8% increase and the best result obtained for this period ever.
