Coastival, the newest summer festival is set to showcase the best of Dún Laoghaire during a weeklong celebration of live music, comedy, water sports & family fun and will coincide with the Volvo Dún Laoghaire Regatta, bringing an exciting and electrifying atmosphere to the town.

“Coastival 2023 is a one-of-a-kind festival that celebrates everything we love about Dún Laoghaire,” said Councillor Mary Hanafin, Cathaoirleach of Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council. “We anticipate an exciting week filled with fun, joy, and unforgettable experiences on the land and on the water. Many events are free and for all ages.”

The festival boasts a line-up of outstanding events, including maritime movies on the green, live music from top bands such as KILA, Jerry Fish, Mack Fleetwood, ABBA Sensations and much more. Additionally, the comedy club features David McSavage and Dublin Improv, providing belly laughs and nonstop entertainment. Splash test dummies and their circus antics at the Pavillion Theatre will be popular with the whole family.

Frank Curran, Chief Executive, Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council said:

“The new Coastival Festival highlights one of the benefits of bringing Dun Laoghaire Harbour into Local Authority ownership. Working in partnership with the sailing and water sports communities, we can together grow the wonderful amenity that is Dun Laoghaire Harbour. We have over 130 events so there is something for everyone to enjoy!”

Other exciting activities include boat cruises and trips, a family fun day at the dlr LexIcon Library, free sailing, kayaking, and paddleboarding experiences, yoga, roller rebels and heritage events. New events are added weekly ensuring Dún Laoghaire is the ultimate destination for locals and visitors alike.

VDLR Event Director, Paddy Boyd, speaking about the Volvo Dún Laoghaire Regatta event which runs alongside Coastival said:

Our Town and waterfront communities have been working hard to plot a new course for Dun Laoghaire – the culmination of which will be celebrated during our Regatta this July and the town’s inaugural Coastival Festival”.
