Light colour palettes
To fully optimise the space in your van conversion, many campers opt for light colour schemes, from white walls to pale wooden accents. This trend can be seen by TikTok user @kayla.hansen.photos who has amassed 236.4k views and 19.3k likes on their DIY conversion, showcasing the pros of a light colour scheme. This creates the illusion of a larger space, whilst also creating a bright atmosphere ideal for the lack of natural light in a small space.

Glossy white shower rooms
Long gone are the days of having a cold body wash outdoors as today’s van conversions feature modern, high-end shower rooms. TikTok user @krisbycampers displayed their white marble-patterned wash area, with one user commenting: “clever putting bathroom at the back so all the water can drain out the doors if needs be.” With 2.2 million views and over 114k likes, this van conversion can definitely offer some interior inspiration.

Making it your own
Whether your van conversion is for short-term vacations or lengthy stays, it’s important to equip your vehicle to your needs. TikTok user @vanlifebuilds explains that their van conversion is “…also a music studio, it has a full sound booth in it for our clients who are music producers/singers, so they can work on the road.” Racking up 2.4 million likes and 48.1 million views, this conversion encapsulates the true perks of a DIY conversion – it can look however you want!
Van conversions and van insurance
Van conversions can be a great investment and fun project that provide many years of fun adventures and trips away with family and friends, however, it is imperative that you tell your insurer of any modifications. Expert Neil Curry at CHILL explains: “There are a number of reasons why it is important to tell your insurer of any modifications, both interior and exterior, to your vehicle. From adding storage and seating to changing windows and alloys, these all have an effect on insurance costs and premiums.”
“Failure to declare any modifications could result in your insurance being voided, be sure to get in touch with your insurance company no matter how small or big the modification may be so that you are covered in the case of any damage or loss.”
