Festival of Family and Friends at Titanic Belfast

History comes alive in unique Gathering event, Nov 4-10
Titanic Belfast will go back in time next month to celebrate our history, culture and heritage in a
Festival of Family and Friends.
The world’s largest Titanic visitor attraction, standing where the famous liner was built in Belfast,
Northern Ireland, will host what promises to be an engaging and entertaining seven-day Gathering for
people of all ages and cultures with many free, and exclusive, events.
A festival of Lectures, dances, talk, story-telling, tours and ancestry research will launch with The
Dance in the Titanic Suite, a glorious return to Ireland’s Showband era with the stage stars of
yesteryear hosted by Downtown Radio’s George Jones.
In partnership with Hilton Northern Ireland, Tourism Ireland and United Airlines, and in association
with PRONI (Public Records Office Northern Ireland), and findmypast.ie, the Festival of Family and
Friends will see research experts reside at Titanic Belfast to offer free family-tree and ancestry-tracing
advice as well as talks on family history, Belfast, transformation, politics and industry.
On Saturday, November 9, the historic Strand Cinema will be transformed back to the 1930s for a
special showing of William MacQuitty’s Titanic movie A Night To Remember.
There’s even an occasion for sports fans – Rinty Monaghan, A Sailortown Hero; a talk given by boxing
historian and author Barry Flynn.
The festival concludes on Sunday, November 10, with a family fun day at Titanic Belfast, with live
music, arts and crafts and games for everyone to enjoy.
