From military to globetrotter: Lorinser converts a 1993 Puch G into a stylish RV

Lorinser Classic has already sold countless Puch G from Swiss army stocks and converted others into beautiful restomods.

“The demand was and remains enormous,” says Managing Director Marcus Lorinser. Having a few 230 GE with hardtop in the pool, the idea was born to build an expedition RV (recreational vehicle) on this basis. It is now available to buy for 69,000 euros. The impressive design of the superstructure goes back to maps from cartographer Petrus Bertius from the 17th century. That was the time when the era of traveling began for the well-heeled classes – and many routes still seemed very adventurous. Today, however, we often have to leave the well-trodden paths to find true adventure. Lorinser Classic built this G for exactly this purpose. It features all-wheel drive as well as a rear axle differential lock. The basis is a Puch 230 GE with a 116 HP (85 kW) 4-cylinder petrol engine and a 4- speed automatic transmission.

The Puch underwent extensive work, as Marcus Lorinser explains: “We painted the body in a matt, green-gray color, blasted the underbody with dry ice and preserved it, refurbished the seats and worked on many other features. The engine with a mileage of only 88,000 km was already in very good condition.” The classic car department of the world-renowned tuner Sportservice Lorinser also added a towbar, LED headlights and wheel spacers. It also added all-terrain tires from BF Goodrich on DOTZ 4×4 steel rims, type Dakar dark.

The living quarters in the superstructure are the actual highlight, for which the old hardtop was restored. The Lorinser team added a new paint coat including a polyurethane coating and applied a foil wrap with the map design. Despite the compact cab, it was possible to create a good, practical room structure and to integrate numerous comfort extras. Passengers can enjoy auxiliary heating, 220 V outlets, a microwave, a combined kitchen and bathroom sink with water tank, a folding table and two folding beds. Built-in cupboards and integrated panniers offer storage space. The sliding windows at the side and the tilting skylight provide optimum ventilation for the interior. The windscreen and the window in the rear door also allow light into the space.

For especially hot days, there is a sun sail for a comfortable outside experience and an outdoor shower which is easily connected. Power is supplied by the vehicle batteries, which can be charged through the solar panels on the roof or with electricity from outside.

This makes the RV ready for any situation – whether at a campsite or on an expedition trip. Interested? In addition to the Puch G described, Lorinser Classic still has plenty of base vehicles which can be built up by the experts to individual customer specifications.
