The winners of this year’s German Innovation Award have been announced and Hymer is delighted to be taking home not one, but two awards. Both the Hymer VisionVenture concept vehicle and the B-Class MasterLine I 880 have been selected as winners by the jury in the “Excellence in Business to Consumer – Transportation” category. Every year, the prestigious accolade honours highly innovative new products as well as solutions and services with outstanding added value for users.

The German Innovation Award 2020 is already the third major award that the Hymer VisionVenure has received this year as the VanLife concept for motorhoming of the future. The concept vehicle has already impressed the juries of the European Innovation Award and the Automotive Brand Contest with its unique product design and the use of innovative materials. However, as the first tandem axle vehicle on the Hymer SLC chassis, the Hymer B-Class MasterLine I 880, which was also unveiled at Caravan Salon 2019, is also a unique leisure vehicle. Measuring an impressive 8.99 metres in length, the integrated vehicle takes luxury to a new dimension thanks to its size and comprehensive features, without compromising on driving comfort.

Hymer VisionVenture: the future of VanLife
Developed in collaboration with BASF, the innovative materials and visionary bodywork of the VisionVenture concept vehicle reveal what modern travel might look like in 2025: bodywork components that are produced using 3D printing technology, infrared-reflective paint, a roof and rear patio with BBQ, as well as a pneumatic pop-top roof, the exterior walls of which are roughly seven centimetres thick and can be filled with heated or cooled air within just one minute. All of these details offer a forward-looking response to current and future industry trends. “When developing this concept vehicle, we focused very heavily on the needs of our customers and in many respects allowed ourselves to be inspired by the DIY conversions of the camper community,” says Christian Bauer, President of Hymer GmbH & Co.KG. “We’re delighted to have received this prestigious award and are now working very hard on developing and implementing individual solutions, as well as being able to incorporate the vehicle into our portfolio.”

Taking luxury to a new dimension: the Hymermobil B-Class MasterLine I 880
As the first tandem axle vehicle on the SLC chassis made by Hymer, the B-Class Master Line I 880 was also praised as an innovative product by the jury. With a vehicle length of almost nine metres, the integrated vehicle is setting new standards in the premium sector and offers huge payload reserves with a gross vehicle weight of up to 5.5 tons. In the interior, the vehicle length is reflected by a generous feeling of space coupled with maximum storage space. The living area easily accommodates a side couch that is 30 centimetres bigger, a larger work surface in the kitchen and an extra wardrobe, giving you even more places to store your belongings. On the exterior, the large, panoramic windscreen and the redesigned front section are a real highlight of the B-Class MasterLine I 880. The visible edges pick up the lines of the headlights and carry them into the extended side contour. The sporty, exclusive appearance is further underlined by the high-quality black grille, glossy radiator frame with chrome trim and LED fog lights.

About the German Innovation Award
The German Innovation Award held by the German Design Council has been open to international entries since 2018. Awarded once a year, it is a prestigious accolade that honours sustainable solutions, innovations or services with outstanding added value for users. One “Gold” title and up to ten “Winner” titles are awarded by a jury in the “Excellence in Business to Consumer” and “Excellence in Business to Business” competition categories. “Special Mention” awards are given for specific aspects of a product innovation.
