Milestone for MORELO – ground-breaking ceremony for Motorhome plant expansion

GROUND-BREAKING CEREMONY FOR FACTORY EXPANSION TOOK PLACE
The motorhome industry is on the upswing and a break in the trend is nowhere to be seen. The luxury motorhome manufacturer MORELO from Schlüsselfeld near Bamberg is now taking the next big step into the future. After significant expansions of the existing plant as well as the exhibition area had been decided in springtime, the cut of the spade on the company premises already took place on Monday, 12 July.
In the last 10 years MORELO has positioned itself as a top provider in the luxury motorhome segment and is now the market leader in the luxury sector. Due to the continuous growth, however, the Upper Franconians have now almost reached their capacity limits.
Therefore, a new building area of 4,350 m² will be created in 2 construction phases. „With the plant expansion, we are creating the basis to be able to continue to grow under our own power and at the same time to be capable of implementing the first-class wishes of our customers even better, more individually and faster“, says Robert Crispens, managing director of MORELO Reisemobile GmbH.
CONSTRUCTION PHASE 1: SHOWROOM EXPANSION
In order to present customers and visitors with an even larger range of first-class motorhomes, the already generously dimensioned showroom will be extended by another 675 m². Additional consultation areas, a new customer lounge and office space for sales and order processing will be located in the new, partly two-storey extension on the east side of the exisiting main building.
CONSTRUCTION PHASE 2: PRODUCTION EXPANSION
On the west side of the factory, the existing production line will be extended by 64 metres, or five new production stations. A total of 285 metres of production line length will then provide 23 generous production stations, which are urgently needed due to the increasing production. Furthermore, new space will be created for panel and parts production as well as machinery. As a whole, the expansion of production phase 2 will have a building area of 3,520 m² to seamlessly join the existing plant.
THE REGION BENEFITS FROM „HIDDEN CHAMPIONS“ LIKE MORELO
At the ground-breaking ceremony, Reinhard Löhner, managing director of MORELO, spoke not only of a „genuine milestone for MORELO, but also of a strong stimulus for the entire region.“ Whereas until a few years ago it was „normal“ for employees to make the daily journey from Schlüsselfeld to Bamberg, Würzburg or even Erlangen and Nuremberg, thanks to „hidden champions“ like MORELO the reverse route is now also „a real option for an increasing number of people.“
MORELO Reisemobile GmbH is the leading manufacturer of luxury motorhomes in Europe, based in Schlüsselfeld, Franconia, being part of Knaus Tabbert AG.
