NEW CLUB SITE ON THE SHORE OF LOCH NESS

The Camping and Caravanning Club has strengthened its campsite portfolio with the announcement of its new Loch Ness Shores Club Site, which is located directly on the south bank of this world-famous loch in the Scottish Highlands.

And as the site, owned by franchisees Lyn and Donald Forbes, is positioned so close to the water; there’s every chance that holidaymakers may even spot the legendary Loch Ness Monster from their camping pitch!

Open to both members and non-members, and due to open this summer, this is an all-year-round Club Site with 99 pitches and also offers a luxury camping option of five wooden wigwams!

The wooden wigwams offer caravan style beds (bedding available on request) for a comfortable stay. They are located at the top of the two-tier site, offering stunning views across the rugged terrain and the Loch itself.

And conservation enthusiasts will approve as the site is carbon neutral, using innovative renewable energy including: water-to-water geothermal heat pumps, a solar thermal system and hydro power for all its heating and hot water. Carbon management is demonstrated through the choice of buildings, with energy efficient construction and low impact, locally sourced, materials.

The site also offers a large reception area, farm shop and a facilities block – each with under floor heating.

After seven years of planning, Lyn and Donald are delighted to finally be opening the site and they said: “Our site is located on the less-well-known south side of Loch Ness, in a tranquil area that offers stunning scenery and panoramic views of the Loch and the mountains beyond.

“We have plenty of outdoor activities that can be accessed directly from the site – including water sports – and we will even be offering people “no trace” activities such as geocaching, to help them explore and enjoy the local area and its woodlands, forestry, flora and fauna.

“We want to make Loch Ness the best site in Scotland, but ultimately we also want to make it the best site in the UK. We look forward to sharing our beautiful location with campers this summer!”

Numerous walks – including an on-site dog walk – are also available for campers to enjoy. Take a short leisurely stroll to Foyers Pier or tackle a wide range of forestry paths both in Foyers and neighbouring hamlet, Inverfarigag. In addition, the recently constructed South Loch Ness Trail runs the entire length of Loch, through spectacular scenery, and is suitable for both walkers and cyclists.

The Great Glen Canoe Trail will delight canoe enthusiasts – and cyclists will also enjoy the soon to be extended, National Cycle Network route, both of which pass by the site.

Loch Ness is the largest volume of fresh water in Britain. The surrounding area is filled with historic attractions, natural wonders and local eateries. The Loch Ness Monster is just one of the many myths and legends to be discovered
.
Bob Hill, the Club’s Sites Director, added: “Our Loch Ness Shores Club Site is in a much sought-after location – there’s not many opportunities to enjoy the famous Loch at such close proximity.

“We’d like to thank Lyn and Donald for all of their hard work and we look forward to welcoming campers to the site.”
