Bailey is expanding its product offerings with the launch of a new family of motorhomes to join its existing Approach Autograph family. The Approach Advance is a new, low-line, entry-level range of motorhomes featuring Peugeot Boxer cab, AL-KO AMC chassis and Alu-Tech body shell. It is set to make its public debut at the Motorhome & Caravan Show in Manchester in January.
Available in four layouts including a low profile, six-berth model with longitudinal drop-down bed, all models of the new Approach Advance have an MTPLM of up to 3,500kg meaning they be driven on regular B licences. Compared to the Approach Autograph, it has a narrower 2.35m wide body, making it easy to manoeuvre in tighter spots.
The Approach Advance features Bailey’s Alu-Tech construction system with a stronger, lighter bodyshell and GRP outer skin, while use of the ultra-low profile AL-KO AMC chassis offers better driving characteristics and lower entry step. It is prepared for towbar fitment and has a wind-down, spare wheel carrier (and spare wheel). The Approach Advance has also undergone a crash-test simulation programme at the Millbrook Proving Ground to ensure that all travel seats withstand the force of a head-on impact.
Performance is provided by the Peugeot Boxer 2.2 Hdi, 130 bhp, Euro 5 engine with a six-speed manual gearbox, with Advance models distinguished by the new-look cab in Bianco White with colour-coded bumpers. Its standard specification includes: ABS braking, premium Michelin branded tyres, driver airbag, and fully adjustable upholstered driver and passenger seats with twin arm rests plus Peugeot’s three year/100,000 mile warranty.
Equipment levels include ‘Mendip Ash’ furniture, Italian design overhead locker doors with a dual-finish and push-button catches, low-level courtesy lighting, ‘Pimlico’ upholstery fabric; a Whalerapid heat hot water system and 4kw blown air heating system, Thetford three-burner gas hob and Duplex anti-rattle combination oven and grill, 103 litre Dometic fridge (80 litre for 615 model), on-board, 90 litre fresh and waste water tanks, and a fully lined shower with the more powerful and efficient Ecocamel shower head that also uses less water.
All models have fixing points for an exterior ladder, roof rack and bike rack, and are also pre-wired for the fitting of a rear view camera, satellite dish or aerial. The optional Premium Pack adds cab air conditioning, a passenger air bag, a concertina windscreen blind, removable cab carpets and a DAB Radio with Bluetooth connectivity.
The two-berth Advance 635 model is a new layout for the Bailey motorhome range and features a large front lounge with full length seats and an end washroom with a dedicated shower. The Advance 665 is a low-profile, six-berth motorhome with an MTPLM of 3,500kg. Based on the award-winning Approach Autograph 765 model, it features Bailey’s unique longitudinal drop-down bed over a side dinette which has four-belted travel seats.
