Newbridge Silverware, the world’s premier manufacturer of home ware and giftware with a rich history in Irish tradition was the focus of President Barack Obama’s visit with students there recently. A special Newbridge Silverware frame which encased the College Prayer was presented to President Barack Obama during his visit to Waterfront Hall in Belfast. Ronan Curran, a student at New-Bridge Integrated College was chosen to celebrate the President’s visit after submitting his original essay through a competition. President Barack Obama addressed the young people of Northern Ireland at Waterfront Hall in Belfast on Monday, June 13th, 2013 as part of his very first visit to the region. Ten other students accompanied Ronan Curran along with the school’s principal and vice-principal.
The engraving on the Newbridge Silverware frame read “To President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama on behalf of the staff and pupils of New-Bridge Integrated College, Loughbrickland, Co. Down, June 2013.”
