Old Head – One of Mayo’s Coastal Havens

County Mayo’s Old Head Beach and mobile home site is situated on the coastal side of the famous Croagh Patrick mountain, where residential and holidaying families will find a staycation haven.
The long, sandy beach, part of the Wild Atlantic Way, overlooks the most scenic Clew Bay and is sheltered from South to West .
Lifeguards are on duty in the summer months with the pier being a very popular destination for visiting families around, with great jumping and diving opportunities, just beware of the jellyfish!
There are also some hidden high spots around the area for cliff jumping and also smooth waters for kayaking. During the Winter months, Old Head is a must go to destination for surfers and windsurfers, coming from far and wide to tackle the rising waves. For those who prefer warmer temperatures, there is also a newly added sauna facility, just metres from the beach. And there is nothing like a quick dip in the cool water to refresh! A tennis court is placed nearby also for the land lovers.
All around the cove there are mobile homes that can be booked to rent and or to buy, and as they are often reserved in advance, so it’s best to book well ahead. Campers can avail of numerous pitches around the area. Throughout the Summer there is a shop open near the mobile home park to buy ice creams and other treats.
Old Head is situated twenty minutes from Westport and only five minutes from Louisburgh.
Local attractions include Westport House, Croagh Patrick and also Kylemore Abbey within longer driving distance and also a number of pubs and restaurants locally.
