Sally Gunnell, Olympic Gold Medalist, OBE, hired out one of Southampton Campers’ iconic VW California Ocean Campervans.
This year, hundreds and thousands of people have opted to take a road trip and stay closer to home. For Sally Gunnell, she experienced a UK road trip, exploring one of Britain’s awe-inspiring destinations along the Jurassic Coast.

Southampton Campers, based in Hampshire, has an extensive fleet built up of eight Volkswagen California Ocean T6.1 campervans and one Volkswagen Grand California 600 motorhome. Available to hire all year round, in both the UK and European destinations, Southampton Campers wants to bring you the joy and freedom that a campervan holiday offers.

Across the four-day staycation, Sally Gunnell visited three different locations along the Jurassic Coast and enjoyed mountain biking, plenty of walking, and had time to relax in peaceful tucked-away places. Sally Gunnell said:

We thoroughly enjoyed our choice of staycation experience. The vehicle (provided by Southampton Campers) was equipped with everything we could possibly need for our road trip. Fridge, cooking facilities, utensils, tableware, sink, and running water. The online booking system was a very straight-forward process, allowing us to submit all necessary paperwork and complete driver checks from the comfort of our sofa. Everything started well, and only got better from there on out!”

If you fancy hiring out a campervan this year, (which is also fit for an Olympic gold medalist), visit Southampton Campers’ website to check availability and plan ahead of the four-week lockdown and book your Christmas mini-break away.

Sally said: “This was a totally new experience for us, but one we will look to do again. If you are considering a staycation and want the freedom to explore more of our great isles, give Southampton Campers a go! My husband and I would thoroughly recommend them!”
