Powerscourt Gardens in County Wicklow has been voted no. 3 in the World’s Top 10 Gardens by the National Geographic. The prestigious accolade comes from the company’s ‘Top Ten’ series of the best trips, adventures and places to visit in the world.

Powerscourt was one of seven European countries to make the list and is the only entry from Ireland. Other entries from Europe include Chateau de Versailles in France and the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, England.

Sarah Slazenger, General Manager of Powerscourt Estate said: “Everyone should see the great sights of the world and the National Geographic has done the traveller a great service by including Powerscourt in the top ten gardens worldwide”.

This award follows several other awards the estate has recently received. These include the Top Ten Houses in the World (Powerscourt House, Lonely Planet), the Best Parkland Venue in Ireland 2014 Award (Powerscourt Golf Club, Golfer’s Guide to Ireland) and the 2014 Certificate of Excellence from Tripadvisor.

Upcoming events in Powerscourt Gardens include the Annual Rose festival and an outdoor performance of ‘The Jungle Book.’ To learn more about the gardens and events at Powerscourt visit their website www.powerscourt.com.
