The Westport Festival of Music & Food is delighted to announce that Galway’s latest rock band, “The Cabin Collective” will be performing at the two day festival in the stunning grounds of Westport House on Sunday, 30th June. The Cabin Collective join Christy Moore, Elvis Costello & the Imposters, Imelda May, The Waterboys, ABC, The Stunning and a host of Irish and international artists for what promises to be the weekend event of the summer and THE best fest in The West!
The Cabin Collective got their music career off to a flying start in April with a thrilling appearance on The Late Late Show before they had played their first gig at the Taibhdhearc Theatre in the city of the Tribes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISk9wEVnifw
The Cabin Collective take their name from the Scandinavian style log cabin in rural Tuam where they rehearse. The nine piece band include four songwriters in their lineup: Leo Moran who wrote Clare Island and Same Oul’ Town for The Saw Doctors, Noelie McDonnell whose song credits include the hit tune ‘Nearly Four’, Waterboy founder Anthony Thistlethwaite who now lives in Gort, Co. Galway, and Keith Mullins whose new album, ‘May It Mean Something to Someone’ will be released this Summer.
Completing the line-up in The Cabin Collective are some of the West of Ireland’s finest musicians including Dave Clancy on Pedal Steel, Eimhin Cradock on percussion, Larry Kelly on guitar, Michael Spud Coen on bass and Rickie O’ Neill on drums. The Cabin Collective will release their debut single, ‘Lines Are Fading’ – a Keith Mullins song– on Friday, 28 June.
In addition to The Cabin Collective, Galway’s Róisín Dubh has chosen some of their favourite Irish artists, from electronic to bluegrass to rock to perform at Westport Festival. They have provided a cross section of the enormous array of talent from the current incredibly vibrant Irish music scene including Delorentos, Le Galaxie, Squarehead, Daithi, Funeral Suits, Kid Karate, Sleep Thieves, Mojo Gogo, Elaine Mai, In Their Thousands, So Cow, Dott, The Depravations, Doghouse and Stephen James Band.
